Strawberry milk

I wanted to challenge myself by creating a packaging design. The process started with illustrating a strawberry.

The final product

I reversed the process by first illustrating something, which in this case was a strawberry. Soon, I came up with the idea to design packaging for strawberry milk.

Then I experimented with the composition, aiming to represent milk in a simple way. However, it didn’t quite work, and the colors didn’t stand out well either. The result was a rather dull and static design.

Then I started experimenting with the shape of the strawberries and returned to the composition. I began playing with contrast by using a dark color for the background. At that moment, the design started to resemble a soft drink packaging for me.

Back at the drawing board, I did some deeper research into milk packaging. Almost every milk carton features an image of a cow. That gave me the idea to illustrate a cow eating strawberries instead of grass, producing strawberry milk. This concept has a playful appearance, which fits well with the target audience of strawberry milk drinkers, mainly children. The shape of the carton follows the length, and through the use of bright and dark colors, the illustration stands out well.
