Alklima
This project was carried out during my time at Slidebuilder B.V.
My role as a Visual Designer at Slidebuilder B.V. involves creating user-friendly templates for a variety of clients. For this project, I developed an interactive demo for Alklima. The focus was on creating a dynamic and user-friendly way to navigate within a PowerPoint presentation.
Assignment
Alklima is an existing client who previously had a presentation created by us. During the meeting, it became clear that they wanted to convert an interactive PDF into a presentation.
Their requirements:
-
Translate the entire PDF into a PowerPoint presentation.
-
Create a wow-effect with animations.
-
Provide intuitive and simple navigation.
The presentation will be used at trade shows and serves as visual support for Alklima's product presentation.
My approach
De grootste uitdaging was het interactief maken van het ontwerp. Dit heb ik stapsgewijs aangepakt:

1. Simple navigation within the presentation
First, I tested how a user could navigate through the slides. Upon starting, the user is presented with a menu to select a topic. This was achieved with buttons that link to specific slides within the file.
Additionally, the last slide contains a text box that expands when clicked. I created this with a trigger animation, allowing the text to appear dynamically.

2. A clear navigation menu
In the first test, the user navigated linearly from point A to point B. To allow for more flexible navigation, I added a compact menu at the bottom of the slides with navigation buttons:
-
Arrows to move forward and backward.
-
A home button to quickly return to the start.
-
A hamburger menu that, when clicked, displays a list of topics.
Within the pop-up menu (the list of topics), the active topic is bolded, so the user always knows where they are. This makes it easier to navigate between topics.

3. A wow-effect with animations
The interactive navigation was in place, but the presentation still felt static. Since the concept revolves around a city where Alklima’s products play a role, I added animations to bring the presentation to life:
-
Cars moving back and forth, making the presentation appear more dynamic.
-
Floating clouds above the city, adding visual depth and layering.
-
A zoom-in transition, where the user feels as though they are diving into a building when selecting a topic.
The result
The demo combines user-friendliness with visual impact and interactive navigation. Alklima was excited about the presentation and immediately saw the potential for further implementation.
